Shadowrocket proxy setup
About this tool
Shadowrocket is a rule-based network proxy client for iOS and iPadOS that routes and manages device-wide mobile application traffic. Shadowrocket is a rule-based network client for Apple devices. Users add proxy endpoints and choose which connections should use them, applying routing rules at the device level rather than relying on a proxy menu inside every app. The configured route can then be checked from the device itself.
Key capabilities
Rule-driven mobile routing & request inspection: Routes incoming and outgoing traffic at the device level using rules matched by DOMAIN, DOMAIN-SUFFIX, DOMAIN-KEYWORD, IP-CIDR, and GEOIP, accompanied by real-time request logs, speed metrics, and custom rule file imports.
- Proxy endpoint management:Shadowrocket routes device traffic according to rules matching domains, suffixes, keywords, IP ranges or GeoIP information. These rules determine which connections use a configured proxy and which follow other routes.
- Rule-based traffic routing:Request records, traffic and speed information, and rule-file imports help manage and troubleshoot the setup. A node specifies where traffic can connect; routing rules decide which traffic uses that node. Keeping these concepts separate makes unexpected routing easier to investigate.
Where it fits
On an Apple device, add and verify a node before testing a small set of domain rules. Check connectivity from the application you actually use. A connected status in the proxy client alone does not establish that every application request follows the proxy route.
- Mobile app operations & regional testing: Used on iPhone and iPad to route native mobile apps (such as TikTok, Instagram, and regional marketplace apps) that do not expose in-app proxy settings.
- Supports adding HTTP, HTTPS, and SOCKS5 proxy nodes via manual entry or QR code; pairing with Static Native Residential proxies is recommended to give mobile apps a clean, geo-accurate residential IP.
