Proxifier setup

Updated on 2026-10-18 About 3 min read

These steps follow Proxifier for Windows. Add a SOCKS5 proxy, then create a rule for the application you want to route. Check official menus for other platforms or versions.

1. Prepare proxy details

Find an active resource in Proxy management and check its protocol, host, port, proxy username and proxy password. These are proxy credentials, not your website sign-in. Menu names can vary by tool version.

FieldWhat to enter
Protocol / TypeChoose HTTP or SOCKS5 to match the resource and its port.
Host / AddressCopy the IP or connection hostname from the resource; enter only the host.
PortCopy the port from the same resource, rather than the tool’s default.
Username and passwordCopy the proxy credentials into separate fields; check case and extra spaces.

2. Configure the tool

  1. Open Profile → Proxy Servers and click Add.
  2. Enter the host in Address and the resource port in Port. Select SOCKS Version 5.
  3. Enable Authentication, enter the proxy username and password, run Check and save.
  4. Open Profile → Proxification Rules and Add a rule. Choose the target executable under Applications and your saved proxy under Action.
  5. Place the rule before broader rules that would override it. Start with the target application only and leave other applications Direct as appropriate.
  6. Reconnect the target app. Check the matching rule and proxy in Proxifier’s log, then verify the exit from that app.

Use the resource’s SOCKS5 settings for this guide. Proxifier’s HTTPS option refers to HTTP CONNECT tunneling; a target website beginning with https is not a reason to select it. Confirm resource and client-mode compatibility before using HTTP.

3. Verify the connection

Open an IP checker inside the configured app, browser profile or device, then test your target website. A successful connection check or latency value does not prove all requests use the intended route. Location differences can also come from lookup databases.

4. Troubleshooting

  • Authentication fails: Check the proxy credentials and resource validity. Do not use your MantaProxy website account.
  • Connection times out: Check host, port, protocol and network reachability, then consult the troubleshooting FAQ.
  • Your local IP still appears: Check the selected proxy, matching rules and exclusions; avoid competing proxy extensions or clients controlling the same traffic.
